Chin Definition

1 min read · Updated October 4, 2026

How clear and well-formed the chin looks as a structure.

What it is

Chin definition is how clearly the chin reads as a distinct, shaped feature rather than a soft continuation of the lower face. It looks at the visible outline and contour of the chin.

What a high score looks like

A high score is a clearly shaped chin with a defined outline and little soft tissue blurring it. A low score is a chin that looks soft, receding into the neck or puffy.

What affects it

Soft tissue under the chin, posture and head angle all change how the chin reads. A slightly lowered or pushed-forward head reduces definition, and a raised chin exaggerates it. Chin projection is easier to judge in profile, so a front photo gives only part of the picture.

How it's graded

Angularity is judged visually, not measured from landmarks: an AI model looks at the photo and grades the feature from 1 to 10 against people of the same sex, where 5 is typical. Because soft-tissue definition depends heavily on light and angle, treat the score as a read of this photo.
